The well-known and well-liked online news source known as Nibel has decided to leave Twitter and put an end to their gaming news updates.
To those who are not aware, Nibel is… or rather was a very prominent figure within the games industry on Twitter. They often covered events and summarized them into bite-sized and easy-to-follow threads that were a valuable resource for both readers and journalists.
Upon their departure, Nibel released the following statement:

On their patreon, Nibel said that, "I have miscalculated the value of my Twitter activity and realize that it is nothing worth supporting by itself for the vast majority of people. It is not me who is popular, but it is the work that is useful. It is not valuable by itself, but a comfortable timesaver, and I get that now."
Nibel also stated that Elon Musk's high profile purchase of Twitter is another contributing factor:
"I do not trust this platform. I do not trust Musk and his seemingly infinite immaturity. I do not think Twitter will fall apart instantly but that it could die a slow death. Why waste more time?"
Nibel has had an uphill battle trying to be verified on Twitter. This was despite other accounts impersonating them and spreading false information.
