Europe's richest race is here and after the final 20 were confirmed, attention has focused towards the runners and soft ground.
The weather hasn't held up for the flat horses that love good ground and the rain is set to continue into the weekend.

Racegoers will want to keep a keen eye on the weather this weekend as the going is likely to be testing for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
Only those who thrive on a heavier going are likely to make it first past the post on Sunday.
But with that draws are also crucial to consider with some stall numbers, often higher, the harder to win from.
Who will thrive on soft to heavy ground in the Arc?
Torquator Tasso

Torquator Tasso stunned the packed Longchamp crowd to land the prestigious Arc
There are a fair few contenders from the confirmed 20-strong field that not only handle heavy ground but also win at the top level.
Torquator Tasso is one that will spring to mind for many due to his win last year in testing conditions.
The German horse, that will be ridden by Frankie Dettori, faces a tough task from stall 18, though.
Alpinista

Alpinista going on to win the Fillies' Stakes at Goodwood in 2021 under Luke Morris
Sir Mark Prescott's Alpinista, unbeaten in seven runs has only been beaten by one horse over this distance and that was all the way back in August 2020.
Any odds could seem overpriced for this likable grey mare who beat Tuesday at York in August and really relishes this distance.
Add to that her ability on good, soft and varying ground, she is clearly one to keep on side despite being the second-favourite.
She's ideally drawn in stall 6, with numerous previous winners coming from this number too.
Luxembourg

Ryan Moore leading Luxembourg, trained by Aidan O'Brien to win the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown
The big favourite for the Arc is Luxembourg at around 7/2 in the market at the moment.
Beat Onesto last time out on soft ground at Leopardstown earlier in September and is aiming to extend his unbeaten run to three.
Only raced six times in his career, winning five and placing once, to Coroebus and Native Trail in the 2000 Guineas, so there's plenty of hope of this progressive colt for Aidan O'Brien.
Will be attempting this distance for the first time but has shaped previously and with his pedigree to suit the 1m4f along with the cut in the ground.
Bubble Gift
Huge odds this year, similar to last year's event that saw the Nathaniel colt come eighth, when the going was heavy.
Has only one Group 1 run since then and that was a solid third place behind Alpinista and could prove to be overpriced and worth an each-way shout in this year's Arc.
Drawn slightly wider this time but that might work in his favour as he finished extremely well and will have more to offer if getting a kinder run.
The now four-year-old not only started slow but was held at the back of the field for much of the race and seems to have progressed nicely since.
Alenquer

Jockey Tom Marquand celebrates on Alenquer after winning the Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh Racecourse
Trained by William Haggas and will be ridden by Marquand yet again is a huge price in the Arc at 80/1.
The same horse that's picked up five wins in just 12 races and a consistent performer in Group 1s, but has just been out of the frame in his last two runs.
Won the Gold Cup in May on good, but the more rain the better for this colt that beat Adayar in 2021 and then won again on heavy ground in the King Edward VI Stakes (Group 2) at Ascot.
The price looks huge and he will have to be at his best to take those odds on, but conditions are set to suit and also has a decent enough draw in 12.
Mishriff

William Buick has said that ideally they'd all want a going that's on the soft side of good and for Mishriff that might be ideal but he has wins on soft and heavy.
John and Thady Gosden train this horse by Make Believe and they will be attempting a change in hope to produce some improvement this weekend with the introduction of a hood for the first time.
With five Group wins and four Group 1 wins there's plenty of chance at a current price of 28/1 to pay dividends.
But he's been just behind this season including beaten by a neck in the Coral Eclipse in July.
What other horses like the conditions in the Arc?
Other shout outs must go to Onesto, another three-year-old on the up with soft ground and distance form to boast about.
Sealiway came fifth in the 2021 renewal behind Torquator Tasso, but remains a big price this time out.
There has also got to be consideration taken to Titleholder, one of two Japanese horses making the trip over to France.
The colt has earned over £5m in prize money but has question marks on testing ground, but given his long distance wins at Group 1 level, ability to stay 2m and go fast there's clear hopes for this horse.
