Although I have only been an NJC Alum for a little under six months, I AM PROUD of my former JUCO.
This past Thursday, myself and many other NJC and FFA "has-beens" were met with delight as we found out that the Black and Gold would be sponsoring the Blue and Gold. NJC is partnering with the Colorado FFA Foundation and that guarantees that every single FFA chapter, and by extension every member in Colorado, understand that NJC has its doors wide open when the time comes to hang up the jacket.
I have never been more proud to have graduated from Northeastern, as when I read that every FFA chapter in the state would be receiving a free jacket sponsored by NJC. This revitalized commitment to the FFA and the agricultural industry was driven by the shared core values of premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. It has proven that NJC is steadfast in its goal to become the premier two year college in the state; if it hasn't already. Do not get me wrong, Northeastern is here to stay.
It should be known that the outstanding institution of NJC houses the best Agricultural Department in the state. Just as any NJC graduate who has full justification and authority of their FFA experience can attest to. Although, you did not have to wear the jacket to understand the exceptional day to day of Beede-Hamil. With the rich-in-tradition, authentic, and hands-on instruction taught by the most passionate of teachers, current FFA members and high school students would be remiss to not consider Northeastern.
As a former Plainsmen and FFA member, I firmly believe that the two best decisions I've made in my life (thus far) have not only shaped my life, but also blessed me with any and all opportunities. The first decision was zipping up the Corduroy Jacket. The second, was to attend Northeastern Junior College. I will forever be indebted to the Blue, Gold, and Black.
So as you zip up your Blue and Gold jacket or reminisce about your outgrown corduroy, I hope that you look towards Sterling- for there is a rising sun over Northeastern.
Just some thoughts from a "has-been,"

2021-2022 NJC Associated Student Government President
2019-2020 Colorado FFA Treasurer
