Qualcomm is soon expected to announced a the budget chip as a part of its recent rebranding of Snapdragon chipsets late last year. Qualcomm may soon launch a new 6-series chipset, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC during its Snapdragon Tech Summit in December last year.
Ahead of official confirmation, a leak has tipped specifications of Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC. The upcoming 4nm chip is said to have part number SM6450. It is tipped to support 5G networks and Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ fast charging.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 Specs
The Qualcomm mid-range processor can handle FHD+ displays of up to 120Hz refresh rate. The specs sheet mentions camera support up to 108MP. You can capture 4K videos at 30fps (frames per second). It also lets you capture slow motion footage in 720p resolution, at 240fps. Other camera features include multi-frame noise reduction, locally motion-compensated temporal filtering, staggered HDR, AI face detection, autofocus, and auto exposure.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is tipped to offer support for 5G connectivity and Quick Charge 4+ technology. It could comprise a 64-bit Kryo processor with a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz alongside an unknown Adreno GPU. It is a 4nm chip having part number SM6450. Qualcomm is offering LPDDR5 RAM support with up to 12GB capacity. It supports USB version 3.1.
Furthermore, the chipset comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology. For connectivity, the chipset will feature the Snapdragon X62 5G modem offering 5G mmWave and sub-6GHz bands. Moreover, it will have the Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2 will also be supported.
Qualcomm has already announced the dates for this year's Snapdragon Summit. While it seems a good stage for the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1's debut too, the latest leak suggests the latter may not remain unofficial for much longer. We expect it to launch alongside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chip later this year at the Snapdragon Summit event in Hawaii, which is set to take place in Hawaii from November 15-17.
