Manchester United have submitted a loan offer to Newcastle for goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
The Red Devils are keen to bring in another goalkeeper to provide back-up for no.1 David de Gea.
Dubravka could join Man United before the transfer window closes
Talks are ongoing between the two clubs over a possible move.
talkSPORT's Alex Crook reports: "United are in talks with Newcastle over a move for Martin Dubravka. They are looking for competition for David de Gea."
Dubravka missed the Magpies' 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Tranmere on Wednesday night, but that was put down to 'illness'.
Manager Eddie Howe admitted that it would be a 'late call' on any outgoings with just a week to go until the transfer window closes.
Man United have already let one goalkeeper leave Old Trafford this summer, with Dean Henderson joining Nottingham Forest on loan.
He hit out at the club in an interview with talkSPORT shortly after joining Forest.
Dubravka would be back up to De Gea
Henderson has been hugely critical of his treatment by United
Henderson said: "The conversation I had coming out of the Euros squad was 'you're coming back here to be the No.1.'
"I got COVID, came back, so I should have still been the No.1, but then unfortunately nobody followed through with what they had told me.
"It was frustrating because I turned down so many good loans last summer for that reason, and they would not let me go.
"To sit there and waste 12 months, it is criminal really, at my age, I was fuming.
"I worked hard off the pitch and on the training pitch to keep improving, day-in-day-out, and now I am looking forward to the season with Nottingham Forest."
