Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is facing a race against time to have record signing Alexander Isak available for tonight's clash at Liverpool.
The Toon, who drew at Wolves on Sunday, are still unbeaten this season but face a tough test at Anfield tonight.
Newcastle are desperate for Isak to play against Liverpool
New £58million signing Isak was unable to make his debut at Molineux because his work permit had not been processed.
And the Magpies are still awaiting the documentation with Howe claiming he could have to wait until 75 minutes before kick-off this evening to know if his new star striker can play.
Asked if Isak would be available at Anfield, Howe said: "We don't know, we still don't know and I still don't know. I hope so, I desperately hope so.
"It would be great to see him involved for us, but we're in the hands still of other people.
"We're desperately hoping that gets done before the game, but there's no guarantee as I sit here now."
Howe's faces a nervous wait to see if Isak can play against Liverpool
Asked if there was a cut-off point, Howe added: "I think it's 75 minutes before kick-off. We don't know, so it could go down to the wire. We'll wait and see."
Newcastle are eager to have Isak available tonight as Callum Wilson is out injured and Allan Saint-Maximin is a major doubt.
The 22-year-old Swedish forward is also itching to get going.
After his move was confirmed last week, Isak said: "I'm delighted to have it done. It was a big, big decision for me but it is a decision I am really happy with.
Newcastle sign Isak for £58million
"It is a great, historical club that I think anyone would like to play for, with amazing fans. They were a big part of why I came here - and also the club's project, which is one that I really believe in.
"You always want to go into a team and know how they play. I think Newcastle play very attractive football and I want to be a part of that."
Liverpool v Newcastle kicks off at Anfield at 8pm tonight and talkSPORT.com will be running a live blog for all the action.
