Manchester United have sent out youngster Hannibal Mejbri on a loan deal to Championship club Birmingham City. The player will spend the 22/23 season on loan before going back to Old Trafford. The club have announced that he will be wearing the number 6 shirt for the coming season.
"It is an honour to come and play for this club," Hannibal Mejbri told Blues TV. "I have heard a lot of good things from my friends who have played here before, so I am ready to come and play for this club."
Hannibal Mejbri joins Birmingham City on a loan deal
The midfielder joined Manchester United from Monaco in 2019. But, he has found first team opportunities hard to come by during this time. As a result, a loan deal with regular game time will help his development and could see him potentially break into the first team later.
This is the first loan spell for the 19-year-old, and he follows Tahith Chong, who also spent last season on loan with the club. There is hope that Chong could return to Birmingham before the end of the transfer window on another loan spell, since first team opportunities look unlikely for him either.
United recently confirmed the signing of Antony, and will soon announce the acquisition of Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United on a loan deal as well.
