Aston Villa have made enquiries for both Conor Gallagher and Lucas Moura, talkSPORT understands.
Villa have endured a poor start to the 2022/23 season, with three defeats from their opening four games, and manager Steven Gerrard wants reinforcements before Thursday's deadline.
Gallagher could struggle for game time at Chelsea
Moura is yet to start for Spurs this season
Chelsea midfielder Gallagher is already wanted by Crystal Palace, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham - but the Blues are desperately short in midfield due to an injury crisis.
Gallagher was recently sent off for Chelsea after two yellow cards in 28 minutes during the 2-1 victory over Leicester and subsequently apologised to supporters.
The 22-year-old England international was a hit on loan at Palace last term but is yet to establish himself as a guaranteed starter at Stamford Bridge.
Villa, meanwhile, are light on wingers and are set to make a last-ditch swoop for Spurs outcast Moura.
The Brazil star has fallen down the pecking order under Antonio Conte and Tottenham are interested in a late deal for Leeds winger Daniel James.
Villa spent big on Philippe Coutinho and Diego Carlos earlier this summer but Gerrard is still hopeful the club can do more business in the next 24 hours.
The pressure is building on Gerrard at Villa
Gerrard said: "As I've said in previous press conferences, if things go our way we could have one or two new faces in. It's not as straightforward as people think. We'll try and do our best, and I know people are working hard in the background to try and support me in those areas.
"We've spoken before about the injury to (Diego) Carlos because he was a statement signing who was going to come in and help us. Missing him has certainly been felt in the last few games."
He added: "There are one or two things we're analysing. If things go our way we could have one or two new faces in but it's not straightforward as people think.
"We'll do our best, people are working hard in the background to support me in those areas. It was a blow to lose Diego Carlos as he was our major statement signing – having him missing has certainly been felt.
"There is also a possibility that two or three might go out before the deadline. I'm hoping that's the case as you feel their frustration about the lack of game time and hopefully there is football for them elsewhere."
