Arsenal could be set to enter the transfer market once again following news of an injury to Mohamed Elneny.
The Egyptian midfielder picked up a 'significant injury' during the weekend's victory over Fulham, a match that the Gunners won 2-1.
As a result Arteta may be forced into the transfer market for further reinforcements
Despite lasting the full 90 minutes, Elneny discovered the injury after the match which is set to keep him sidelined for a substantial period.
With Thomas Partey also set for a spell on the sidelines, it means that Mikel Arteta's side could be plotting a change in strategy in the transfer market.
Arsenal have already enjoyed a productive summer in the transfer market with several high-profile additions, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko arriving for big money.
The Gunners also completed deals for Fabio Vieira from Porto, Matt Turner from New England Revolution and Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.
With Albert Sambi Lokonga still available as a midfielder and Zinchenko also able to play in the middle of the park, The Athletic reports that the Gunners won't be searching for a short-term fix to their injury woes.
Instead, they will focus on a signing who fits with the long-term recruitment model already in place at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners continue to be linked with a number of players, including Neto of Wolves
The likes of Wolves man Pedro Neto and Youri Tielemans of Leicester have been linked with the Gunners this summer.
