Katie Boulter became the latest Brit to crash out of Wimbledon with a straight sets defeat to Harmony Tan on Saturday.
The world no. 118 was beaten 6-1, 6-1 on Court Two as a dream week at the All England Club ended in disappointment.
Boulter reached the end of the road on Saturday
The 25-year-old had become a crowd favourite
Boulter progressed to the last 32 with a stunning triumph over last year's runner-up Karolina Pliskova, winning hearts as she dedicated the win to her late grandmother.
However, the fourth round proved a bridge too far as France's tan delivered a dominant display and defeated Boulter in 51 minutes.
Tan, the world no.115, is developing a reputation of their own and claimed her latest big scalp following victory over the legendary Serena Williams.
With Emma Raducanu out in the second round, British hopes in the women's singles now rest on Heather Watson, who progressed to the fourth round for the first time in her career with a victory over Kaja Juvan on Friday.
Tan has become an unlikely story in south west London
The 30-year-old will face world no.97 Jule Niemeier in the last-16, entertaining very real hopes of a first-ever quarter-final appearance.
Meanwhile, Boulter will be invested in the match between Britain's Liam Broady and Australia's Alex de Minaur on Saturday - but she will be rooting for the Aussie, who also happens to be her boyfriend.
Cameron Norrie is also flying the flag for the UK at Wimbledon and takes on Tommy Paul in the round of 16 on Sunday.
