Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has said he is 'honoured' to join Nottingham Forest for their first season back in the Premier League.
The England international has completed his season-long loan switch to the City Ground, the promoted club announced on Saturday morning.
Henderson will play between the sticks for Nottingham Forest this season
Henderson barely set foot on the pitch last season with De Gea cementing his spot as Man United's No.1
Henderson was keen to leave Old Trafford this summer after struggling for game time this season.
Having appeared to make some headway in his battle with David De Gea for the No.1 spot in the 2020/21 season, the 25-year-old was again resigned to playing second fiddle last term.
He made just three appearances across the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup, with De Gea playing the entire season in goal in the Premier League.
The goalkeeper has now joined promoted Forest in search of regular first-team football, having flourished between the sticks during previous loan spells at Sheffield United between 2018 and 2020.
And Henderson said he was 'delighted' to join the historic club for their first top flight season in 24 years.
"I'm absolutely delighted to be joining such a fantastic club with an amazing set of fans and a wonderful history," said the glovesman.
"I want to thank the manager and owners at Nottingham Forest for the great opportunity to play for this club in their first season back in the Premier League. I'm really excited to work with everyone at the club from the manager, players and goalkeeper coach Danny Alcock.
"Finally, just a massive thank you to the fans for the welcome I have received and I can't wait to celebrate some brilliant moments together this coming season."
Henderson is Forest's second new signing of the summer, following the arrival of former Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi for a club-record £17.5million.
It is understood the agreement does not include an option to buy, with Steve Cooper's side covering his wages in full for the duration of the loan.
henderson was restricted to just three appearances in all competitions last season
Henderson also cannot play against United as part of the terms of the agreement.
"Dean is a top-class goalkeeper and he's hungry for more opportunities to play and to continue to prove himself at the highest level," said Forest boss Cooper.
"He's played multiple times in the Premier League but has also experienced the Champions League and international football.
"Again, Dean is someone who has attracted a lot of interest from other clubs and we're delighted that he has chosen to Nottingham Forest for our return to the Premier League."
