Cristiano Ronaldo has been defended for wanting to leave Manchester United.
It emerged last week that the 37-year-old icon had made a bombshell request to be sold, should an acceptable bid come in.

Ronaldo still have one year left on his Old Trafford contract, but is keen to play Champions League football.
There is reported interest from Chelsea, Napoli and Bayern Munich.
He is set to report back to pre-season training at United on Monday and will hold crisis talks with Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo was one of very few highlights in a disappointing 2021/22 campaign, where he scored 24 goals in all competitions.
His impact at United was a decisive one, though, with opinion split over whether it was a positive or negative one.
The United Stand host, and talkSPORT regular, Mark Goldbridge did not begrudge the Portugal superstar for wanting to leave.

He told talkSPORT: "I think he's right to do it. I know there will be Manchester United fans who disagree with me.
"I know Ronaldo isn't doing it for Man United fans he's doing it for Cristiano Ronaldo, it makes him in tune with United fans. The lack of ambition, drop in standards.
"The one thing you get from Ronaldo is he walks into a dressing room and probably says 'we're not winning because you are not good enough, not working hard enough, and I don't want to be at this club any more because you are showing absolutely no ambition in comparison to Liverpool, Man City and everyone else.'
"I think a certain player at United would do what Ronaldo has done. I think Ronaldo, at 37, does he want to play here like last year when he's not competing for anything."
Ronaldo wants to play Champions League football again
There is interest from a number of clubs around Europe as he looks to make a return to the Champions League.
European football journalist Andy Brassell assessed the options and thinks that Ronaldo may have to make some reductions in his wage demands.
He told talkSPORT: "The Roma one, it felt like a bit of a pace setter in terms of rumours, because of the [Jose] Mourinho connection and Jorge Mendes connection.
"Other Mendes clients have ended up there, so it is natural there would be some discussion there.
"How he fits in this young Roma team, as well as the fact they are not in the Champions League of course, I'm not really sure.

"Napoli is interesting because they are a club cutting back on wages, that are again looking at making their squad younger. They are moving on from Dries Mertens, for example, who is the top scorer in the club's history.
"It would be an opportunity signing for a couple of the clubs out there. All these clubs that have been mentioned, dare I say it Chelsea because we don't know how much is in the pot, suggest he is going to make an effort wherever it is.
"It looks like with him pushing to get out, rather than getting paid for the next year, that's where his head is at too."
