The former World's Strongest Man put some of his signature strength to good use in Poland with a resounding victory in his MMA fight on Saturday night.
Mariusz Pudzianowski (17-7) wiped out opponent Michael Materla (31-9) with a vicious uppercut in the first round of their main event match-up at KSW 70 in Polish city Lodz.

The 45-year-old then landed an unnecessary follow-up shot on Materla, who was already out cold on the mat. It was a hammerfist that may have contributed to the worryingly long time Materla spent stricken on the canvas.
Thankfully, after several minutes on the floor, Materla got back to his feet to warm applause from the crowd whose initial excitement following the knockout quickly turned to real concern.
The fight always seemed destined to end badly for Materla, who at 222lbs was outweighed by his naturally bigger 256lb opponent.
In the first 20 seconds of the bout, Pudzianowski landed big and had Materla hurt but a clinch ensued and 'Cipao' was allowed to recover before they went back to exchanging shots.
A brief break for a low blow led to Materla's only moment of success on the night as he momentarily wobbled Pudzianowski, but just a couple of seconds later, the fight was over with less than two minutes on the clock.
Pudzianowski is now riding a five-fight win streak in KSW and has scored knockout wins in all of them. It is the best winning run of his career after the Pole decided to transition to MMA at the age of 32.

'Pudzian' jumped straight in at the deep end and managed to pick up wins over MMA icon Bob Sapp, boxing legend Butterbean and former UFC fighter Sean McCorkle in his first 10 bouts.
Prior to his MMA debut in 2009, Pudzianowski was one of the very best strongmen and was crowned the 'World's Strongest Man' in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008 while taking silver in 2006 and 2009.
