April Fools' Day is that time of year when you have to have your wits about you, or you might end up looking like a right numpty.

Well, at talkSPORT Towers Ray Parlour was the first victim of the day when he fell hook, line and sinker for this prank.

Parlour was the unfortunate victim of the Breakfast show prank

'Management Max' phoned up the Arsenal legend to tell him about his predicament… he wanted Ray to host Friday's Breakfast show.

The legendary Alan Brazil was 'unavailable' at the last minute and that's a story that anyone would believe - see numerous incidents at Cheltenham over the years.

So here's exactly how Parlour was tricked by the Breakfast team...

Max: "I just spoke to Al. He's basically saying now he's not going to be able to do the show. I think he's got an event tonight that he's not going to be able to get back for.

"I've been having a chat with the guys here about who is going to do the show. We actually think the best option is to get you to host the show.

"I think it would be quite a good opportunity for you to kick off the show at 6am. I just wanted to see what your thoughts are."

Parlour would have given the talkSPORT Breakfast show a go... and we know he would have been brilliant

Ray: "Who's going to be with me though?"

Max: "I just think rather than getting someone else in… when Al isn't there who do you think the best options are? I'd like you to do it."

Ray: "It's a little bit tough isn't it. I can give it a go, but it might be a bit of a nightmare."

Max: "I think it will be a good opportunity for you, maybe further down the line and presenting could be the thing for you."

Ray: "I've never done it, have I? I could say it was my debut and I'm going to muck it up a bit."

Max: "We can script stuff up for you and think about what sort of presenter…"

Ray: "What so 'this is the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, 6 o'clock' things like that. Let's have a look at the back pages at 7.15am with 'Super Sam'.

"I'll have a go. You know what it's like. I'm sure it won't go wrong and we'll just get on with it and do the best I can."

Max: "Yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Let me just pop this in the diary. What's the date tomorrow?

Ray: "The 1st."

Max: "First of what?

Ray: "April."

Max: "Oh yeah. Does that mean it's April Fools' Day? It is April Fools' Day, Ray as this is a wind-up. You're not really presenting tomorrow, mate."

Cue the hysterics from the whole Breakfast team who were listening in, with more laughs when Parlour messed up his lead into the break!
