"This is a transitional support until we are able to regularize these barangays under the provisions of the Bangsamoro Local Governance Code (BLGC) and be entitled to a regular IRA." -- Interior Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo
BARMM News:
(SDN) -- A total of 11 barangays (villages) of the municipality of Datu Salibo, Maguindanao, which are hungry for funds can have a sigh of relief. At least for now.
It's because the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM-MILG) has released to the mentioned barangays' respective chairmen their subsidy worth Php100,000 each a month, for a total of Php1,100,000, and Php13,200,000 a year.

The head of the MILG, Interior Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo, said the Bangsamoro region has a total of 47 non-IRA (internal revenue allotment). Datu Salibo alone has 15 barangays, only four have their own IRA from the government.
Thus, the Bangsamoro government's funding assistance given out through the MILG, one of the BARMM's line agencies. Sinarimbo turned over the funds six days ago from today, April 25, 2022.
"We released today to the 11 Barangay Captains of Datu Salido the subsidy of the Bangsamoro Government to these Non-IRA Barangays. Of the 15 barangays of Datu Salibo, 11 are without IRA since 2009.," said Sinarimbo, spokesman of the BARMM.
He added that in 2021 the MILG programmed in the 2022 BARMM budget the provision of monthly subsidy for 47 non-IRA barangays in the Bangsamoro.
"This is a transitional support until we are able to regularize these barangays under the provisions of the Bangsamoro Local Governance Code (BLGC) and be entitled to a regular IRA. In the transition, the Non-IRA barangays will receive a monthly subsidy of Php100K to defray the expenses of their operation," said Sinarimbo
He recalled that the MILG conducted a workshop in Davao City recently to orient the barangay chiefs on how to properly utilize the fund subsidy.
"We hope that this will further enhance service delivery at the level of the barangays," the MILG chief said.
Under the leadership of Sinarimbo, a lawyer, and a stalwart of the Mindanao peace process, the MILG has been delivering what is called the "dividends of peace" to the Bangsamoro communities and their residents through the ministry's various programs, projects, and services. (/)
