The incident took place behind a hotel near the corner of Barlow Trail and 26th street Northeast. EMS were called to the scene just before 3:45 a.m. and the 40 year-old man was transported to the Foothills hospital.

It is believed the man was assaulted and police have taped off the area to search for a potential weapon. Police are also combing through surveillance footage from nearby businesses to find any evidence of who committed the crime.

The investigation is still ongoing and the man is reportedly still in critical condition in the hospital.
