We just had our 52nd Earth Day and I continue to wonder why every day is not Earth Day. The Earth is our only home and it is important to treat it as such and not our dumping ground.
We all say that we are clean air, water and a healthy environment and we indeed are making slow progress with more efficiency, electrification and awareness. But, we are continue to put vast amounts of pollutants into our atmosphere.
In 2019, 43.1 billion tons of CO2 went into the air, which was a record amount. The resulting warming of the Earth primarily due to our consumption (and producing the CO2) is already altering our food and water supply.
Ecosystems are changing and also stressing animal and plant species.
If I asked, would you want a clean and healthy planet for your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, without a hesitation you would say yes. Well, to achieve that goal, more action has to be taken now by families and businesses and by our elected officials.
Let us make every day Earth Day!
