Tyson Fury's US-based promoter, Bob Arum, believes a crossover fight between the WBC heavyweight champion and UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou, would be 'easy to make'.
Fury announced he would be retiring from boxing after knocking out Dillian Whyte. The 'Gypsy King' then immediately invited Ngannou into the ring to discuss a potential future clash.
Ngannou was ringside to watch Fury KO Whyte and then joined him in the ring after to suggest a mega fight in Africa
"I'm the boxing heavyweight champion, he's the UFC heavyweight champion. He's in great shape, look at the muscles on him," Fury said after the fight as Ngannou was brought in to meet him in the ring.
Ngannou chipped in by saying: "We're going to find out who is the baddest motherf***** on the planet."
The Cameroonian then clarified there will be different rules in the hybrid fight, adding: "MMA gloves in the ring, kind of like a mix up, a little bit different."
Both men have said they want the fight in 2023, because Ngannou is currently under contract with the UFC until the end of the year. Should he choose not to renew that contract, it looks like Fury will be his next opponent.
Arum, told USA TODAY Sports that it would be 'easy' to make a fight between Fury and Ngannou because both Top Rank and the UFC have broadcasting deals with ESPN.
"I don't know what (Ngannou's) contract situation with the UFC is," Arum said. "Obviously, it'd be a massive fight, and it should be easy to make."
Fury signed a multi-fight deal with Arum and Top Rank after his first fight with Deontay Wilder
Arum went on top say that he plans to discuss the potential fight with Fury when they meet in a few weeks time when the 33-year-old visits Las Vegas, where the Top Rank CEO lives.
"We'll have plenty of time to talk everything out," Arum added.
The Hall-of-Fame boxing promoter dismissed Fury's claim that he's retiring
"No, he definitely won't retire," Arum said. "Of course not. Are you crazy?"
