Andy Ruiz Jr is set to fight Luis Ortiz next in a very intriguing heavyweight clash on August 13 in LA.
The former unified heavyweight world champion who twice fought Anthony Joshua will take on the former world title challenger who was twice beaten by Deontay Wilder in a crossroads bout.
Ruiz Jr has fought just once since his rematch defeat to Anthony Joshua in 2019
Ruiz Jr shocked the world in 2019 when he knocked out Joshua to dethrone him of his titles.
However, just six months later, AJ snatched the belts back in their immediate rematch.
Since then, Ruiz Jr has fought only once.
He took 18 months out of the ring and then returned with new trainer Eddy Reynoso against Chris Arreola in May 2021.
Ruiz Jr was floored by Arreola in this contest, but got up and won on points.
He hoped to build on this momentum and quickly get back in the ring again, but this turned out not to be the case as he had knee surgery last summer.
Ortiz has only ever lost to Wilder
There was confusion last month as Ruiz Jr signed a contract to face Tyrone Spong next - a bout which Triller announced.
However, it's now been clarified that he first signed to face Ortiz and so this is the fight that will happen next.
Ruiz Jr's father Andy Ruiz Sr has now confirmed to ESPN Mexico that August 13 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles is the date and venue.
"My son is going to shut up the one who dared to call him a coward," Ruiz Sr said.
"Andy is very motivated, he is ready to show the world that he belongs to the elite of heavyweights and that he is not afraid of anyone."
