Three Greeley West High School seniors are among seven students from Weld County high schools to win Daniels Scholarships for 2022.
The scholarships are awarded by the Daniels Fund, and recognize students showing strength of character, leadership potential and a commitment to community service.
The winners from Greeley West are: Brenden Folsom Rasheed Garza-Archuleta and Ali Lone.
They were joined by two other students from Greeley-Evans School District 6 high schools: Lucero Cervantes Andazola from Early College Academy and Garrett Yackey from Frontier Academy, a public charter.
Natalie Green from Severance High School in Weld RE-4 School District and Zayne Stam from Weld Central High School in Weld RE-3J School District were also named as Daniels winners.
Weld RE-4 School District serves students in Windsor, Severance and west Greeley, and Weld RE-3J School District serves students in Keenesburg, Lochbuie, Hudson and Roggen.
Daniels Scholars receive up to $100,000 over four years toward their undergraduate degree, depending on family need according to information from the Daniels Fund. Daniels Scholars may use their scholarship at any accredited nonprofit college or university anywhere in the United States.
The scholarship is named for Greeley native and Daniels Fund fouder Bill Daniels, who was born in 1920 and went to operate hundreds of cable television systems through the U.S.
Daniels died in 2000.
