The global video game industry is expected to double in terms of revenue in the near future. According to a new report from Unity, the industry will grow by more than $300 billion over the next five years thanks to the market's accelerated growth caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
"If a game can follow a player from their home console to their mobile phone or tablet, it cuts down the chance that they'll switch to another game when they change devices," the report reads. "It also improves the player experience, making it easy for players to access their save files, in-game purchases, and content anywhere."
That was not the only interesting insight this survey provided into gaming. The report also said that global gaming industry revenues grew by 30% in 2021. Moreover, the number of daily active PC and console gamers rose by 62% while mobile gamers have grown by 74% since the beginning of 2019.
