Manchester United will be offloading some of their fringe players at the end of the season and will be making room for new additions in the summer. Three players with expiring contracts are set to leave the club, with the board having no interest in renewing their deals.
Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani are the three players set to leave the club when their contracts run out at the end of the season.
Manchester United to make room in their squad for next season
Cavani was rumoured to leave the club in the January transfer window alongside Jesse Lingard. But, while the Uruguayan stayed committed to United until the end of the season, Lingard had a strong chance to join Newcastle United.
Ralf Rangnick's hierarchy ultimately stepped in and prevented the Englishman from leaving the club. They have tried to renew his contract in the past, but it now seems that the winger will end up leaving Old Trafford in search of regular playing time elsewhere.
Juan Mata, lastly, has found himself on the bench for the majority of the last few seasons. And now, the Spaniard is set to end his spell at Manchester United and become a free agent at the end of the season.
Manchester United will be renewing the contract of Bruno Fernandes soon, with an agreement expected very soon. They are also working to keep Luke Shaw on a new deal as well. Talks with the English left-back will start in the coming weeks.
