Liverpool will need to act fast if they want to bring Jude Bellingham back to England with Real Madrid eyeing a move for the midfielder.
Bellingham, 18, is fast becoming one of the hottest properties in football following his 2020 move from Birmingham to the Bundesliga, and Liverpool are thought to be keen admirers.
Bellingham's incredible displays have him labelled as a future great
So good, in fact, that Madrid see him as a replacement to the world class Luka Modric
The England international has signed with Dortmund until 2025, and there's an expectation that the club should be able to hold on this summer as the race for one of their other stars, Erling Haaland, begins.
However, should interested parties such as Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United delay their move until next year, they could have stiff competition from Spain.
German outlet BILD has revealed that Madrid have joined the race for Bellingham, to follow up on a move for Haaland this year.
Meanwhile, Spanish sports daily AS say Madrid see Bellingham as, 'fully qualified to become the heir to Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.'
The evergreen Modric continues to shine at a world class level, but at the age of 36, Madrid may soon need other plans.
Bellingham is rated at the £100million mark, and his price tag is likely to only go up with a number of stunning displays for Dortmund and England.
Spanish giants Madrid have already had great success in landing 19-year-old France international Eduardo Camavinga, who has shone this season, and by adding Bellingham their midfield could be set for years to come.
For now, though, Madrid's main target still appears to be Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The France World Cup winner's contract expires this summer, and the Spanish capital is his most likely destination.
