SC East Bengal pulled off a second half comeback to salvage a point, playing out a 2-2 draw with Chennaiyin FC in the ISL. Here are the three key talking points from the game.

Game of two halves

After conceding an own goal within the first few minutes of the game, and Ninthoinganba Meetel using brute power to land the ball in the back of the net, SC East Bengal looked out of the competition within the first few minutes alone.

However, the second half saw CFC ease off, which allowed their opponents to grow into the game and take a point away.

SC East Bengal dig deep to earn a point

After going two goals down in the first half, a free kick from Darren Sidoel brought them back into the game. The midfielder has now scored in two successive games in the ISL. The drama would continue until the final minutes of the game, when Lalrinliana Hnamte pulled off a header to score the equaliser.

Disappointment for Chennaiyin FC

This was the first game all season that Chennaiyin FC were able to score two goals in the first half. But, they grew somewhat complacent in the second half, which allowed East Bengal to take a point off of them.

A win today would've allowed Chennaiyin to go up to third today. But, instead, they are outside the top four and will have to fight a close battle in their final games of the season for a playoff spot.
