Elden Ring has a couple of different mechanics that you need to master in order to make it to the end. Landing critical hits allow you to deal a lot of damage and will let you beat enemies much faster. In this Elden Ring guide, we are going to walk you through how you can perform critical hits.

Landing Critical Hits In Elden Ring

You can land critical hits in Elden Ring by backstabbing an enemy, depleting enemy stamina bars, or parrying an enemy attack.

Firstly, you can land critical hits by backstabbing an enemy. Crouch and walk up behind enemies and attack in order to deal critical hits. This is going to deal massive amounts of damage and can even kill enemies in a single strike. If you are careful and there are no enemies nearby then you can continue killing enemies without drawing attention to yourself. This is a great way of dealing with invading players as well

Secondly, you can deal critical hits by depleting the stamina bar of the enemy. Attacking an enemy with no stamina will cause it to flinch. This will leave them vulnerable and open to incoming attacks. You can then land critical hits to deal increased damage. This works on bosses too and you will hear a guard break audio cue to indicate when this has happened. Aim for the weak spot of the boss to deal even more damage.

Lastly, if you successfully parry an enemy attack then it will be open attacks just like depleting an enemy's stamina bar. This works best against humanoid bosses and players. You will need a shield to parry and this method is more difficult to pull off as compared to the two mentioned above but it is still worth knowing and even mastering. Know that if you fail to parry then you will receive a lot of damage depending on the enemy that you are fighting.
