Conor Benn indicated that he would be open to fighting Chris Eubank Jr in a post on social media.

Eubank Jr put in an impressive performance to beat Liam Williams on Saturday night, knocking his opponent down four times.

Eubank Jr silenced a lot of critics with the victory over Williams

Benn reacted to that fight on social media and wrote: "I fancy my chances at catchweight."

The 25-year-old was reacting to a news story reporting the comments made by Eubank Jr's, Team Sauerland, who opened the doors for a potential showdown.

Team Sauerland tweeted: "You know somewhere, some special night in the not too distant future Eubank v Benn the next generation will happen.

"And we will be more than happy to make that happen."

It's a fight that many boxing fans may want to see with their fathers - Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn - fighting twice in the 1990s.

There is a sizeable weight difference between them with Eubank Jr taking on Williams at middleweight, while Benn is working his way up the welterweight rankings with a record of 20-0.

Both will be targeting title shots in their own weight class in the near future, but it appears both men would be open to a showdown in the future.

Benn is currently undefeated and working his way up the welterweight ranks

Speaking to talkSPORT before his victory over Williams, Eubank Jr admitted he would definitely consider a clash with Benn.

He said: "Listen, we're on such different paths right now and it's hard to even talk about it.

"If we ever ended up in the same weight class or ended up at catchweight that could be made, if that's what the fans want then of course. This is the entertainment business and I'm here to please the fans.

"It's not a fight I personally want. I don't have anything against Connor, he's not disrespected me or said anything to where I want to fight the guy.

"If the fans wanted it and it could be made in a few years time, then sure, I would definitely consider it."
