A search firm contracted by the Weld RE-4 School District to find a new, full-time superintendent will hold focus-group meetings and community sessions to select a candidate with the first gatherings Jan. 24 and 25.

McPherson and Jacobsen based in Omaha, Nebraska was hired by the school district late last year to work with the board of education on the search to replace superintendent Dan Seegmiller, who resigned in mid-November.

The Jan. 24 meeting will held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Severance Middle School cafeteria. The Jan. 25 session is scheduled from 7-8 p.m. in the Grandview Elementary School cafeteria.

An online survey is available in both English and Spanish through January 24. The questions contained in the survey are the same as those asked at the in-person meetings.

The public's feedback will contribute to determining the skills and attributes needed for the RE-4 leader, as well as guiding the development of interview questions.

A tentative timeline for the superintendent search process follows:

January 18: online survey opens; position posted
January 24: online survey closes
February 17: position posting closes
March 8: review and select candidates
March 23 - 27: candidate interviews
March 29: Selection of new superintendent
July 1: New superintendent starts

Dates and times are subject to change based on stakeholder availability.
