Odisha FC defeated NorthEast United 2-0 in the ISL to take all three points in an important fixture for them. Here are the three key talking points from the game.

Leaky defense patched

Odisha have kept a clean sheet for the first time in over a month, enduring a strong attacking display from the Highlanders. They have the worst defensive record in the league right now, with 24 goals conceded, but managed to hold their own against Khalid Jamil's men, who are struggling near the bottom of the table.

More misery for the Highlanders

This season is not going according to plan for NorthEast United. While they had a very successful outing in the previous season, it just hasn't clicked for them this time around.

We are already past the halfway point this season, and it looks like they are headed towards a finish near the bottom of the table.

Their defeat against Odisha showed that they are willing to take matters into their own hands and attack when things get intense, but more quality is required up front to get the job done.

Odisha FC up to fifth place

With first half goals from Aridai Suarez and Daniel Lalhlimpuia, the three points from the game take Odisha FC up to fifth place. They are only a point away from the top four, and are four points away from league leaders Kerala Blasters. As a result, they have a very good chance of breaking into the top four at the very least.
