David Neres has completed his transfer to Shakhtar Donetsk, leaving Ajax after five years with the club. The winger has signed a contract until June 2026, and the transfer fee is around €12 million, with €4 million in add-ons taking the fee up.

The transfer is effective immediately, and Ajax have managed to earn a transfer fee for the player with six months remaining on his deal with them.

David Neres was signed from Sao Paulo in his home country, Brazil. And since arriving in Amsterdam, he has grown into one of their best players. But, Ajax have a name in mind to replace him.

David Neres joins Shakhtar Donetsk to make room for Steven Bergwijn

Having made a very good deal to sell Neres, Ajax can now turn their attention to their winter transfer target, Tottenham's Steven Bergwijn.

David Neres and Steven Bergwijn share a similar profile, being pacey and skilful wingers. The Brazilian has been very impressive for Ajax during his time with them. Neres played a key part in Ajax's 18/19 Champions League campaign, where they eliminated Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to progress to the semifinals.

Bergwijn has been in and out of the Tottenham Hotspur first team and has featured for Ajax's rivals PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie. Antonio Conte is open to the player leaving London this month, and an agreement needs to be reached between the two clubs before the transfer can be given the green light.
