More than two dozen Denver and Boulder-area concerts and cultural events have been canceled or postponed in recent days, jostling the live-entertainment industry just as 2022's calendar is beginning to firm up.

Even with an anticipated 150-plus shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre this season, and more big names from Ball Arena to Broomfield's FirstBank Center, the raging omicron variant and positive COVID-19 tests among touring artists and crews has shelved hundreds of dates nationally in the last week.

That includes a 30-date comeback/anniversary tour for Twin Cities pop-punk act Motion City Soundtrack — itself already delayed from 2020 — and its Denver show at Summit on Feb. 11, according to the band's social media.

As of press time, promoter Live Nation had not publicly announced the postponement, despite updating its ticketing website to reflect the change.

It's also been painful ride for ticket-holders of the Lucinda Williams show in Boulder, which has been postponed and rescheduled no fewer than three times in the last five months. In some cases, cancellations are happening just days before the show — see the Friday, Jan. 14, and Saturday, Jan. 15, Hot Water Music concerts at the Bluebird Theater.

Refund requests for most shows are available at the point of purchase or offered via email, although some sellers, such as the Boulder and Fox theaters, only offer a 30-day window for such requests. Be sure to check your spam filter for auto-generated notices.
