Marangal National High School Principal Rogelio Sison Jr. faces the camera before his—What else? "Sison's Greeting" atop the stage?

You heard it right. THIRTEEN is and was a lucky number – At least for Marangal National High School (MNHS).

For on the 13th and even up to the 17th Day of December 2021, multitudes of parents flocked to MNHS to receive gifts from the institution for the Christmas season.

The said gift-giving program, which was actually a project of Project Handog (PH) in collaboration with the Bayanihan Initiative Project (BIP), distributed goodies and other food items a few weeks before the much-awaited noche buena feast.

Ma'am Lalaine Buenaventura, main brain of the Project Handog stresses a point before parents in attendance. She was one of those responsible for raising the "PH level" of giving and sharing.

MNHS Principal Mr. Sison Rogelio G. Sison spearheaded the opening day as he praised the teachers, donors, parents, learners, and stakeholders to the delight of those who were in attendance.

And it was a such an overwhelming sight.

"Recipient din ako ng ganitong klase ng program noong bata pa ako. Masaya yung feeling na nakatatanggap bilang bata," bared Mrs Lalaine Buenaventura, who is the prime mover of PH.

"That's how we spend Christmas here, with big love," added Mrs Ellen Altoberos, who is the coordinator for BIP.

Ma'am Lilibeth Fabregas (1st from left), teacher of the ESP department; Ma'am Cheryl Igay, (second from left), coordinator of the TLE Department; Ma'am Ellen Altoberos (middle), over-all coordinator for the Bayanihan Initiative; Ma'am Cheryl Igay, (first from left), coordinator of the TLE Department; and Mr. Marvin Neil Median, master fund-raiser from the English Department, find time to chat while wrapping items for the recipients. Partly hidden is TLE veteran Ma'am Reizalyn Ricablanca.

The Days 2 and 5 were mirror-images of sharing with Mr. Sison, Mrs. Buenaventura, Mrs. Altoberos, Curriculum Chairpersons  Aileen Ferrer of Grade 7, Prescila Felix of Grade 8, Mark John Marquez Grade 9, Myra Arabia of Grade 10, and Theresa Cruz of the Senior High School leading the way.

They were ably supported by other faculty members like Mr. Marvin Neil Medina, Mrs. Cheryl Ygay, Mrs. Edisa Bamuya, Miss Christian Joy Esmilla, Mrs. Reizalyn Ricablanca, Mrs. Rosemarie Cereno, Ma'am Herlie Batatas, Mr. Carl Michael Abes, Mrs. Lilibeth Fabregas, Mr. Michael Abes, and Mr. Teodoro Canaria.        There were other notables.

Incidentally, Mr. Medina had the Herculean but successful task of co-raising around P70, 000.

Ma'am Herlie Batatas, in green, shares the imaginary stage with parent-recipients, who are all in red.

But where did they get such energy for putting up something this big?

"Sa ngiti pa lang ng bata sapat na," concluded Mrs. Buenaventura
