Erling Haaland is set to be Europe's hottest property in the transfer market this summer and Jack Wilshere has joked he should head to Arsenal.

The Norwegian is set to leave Borussia Dortmund as a release clause in his contract, worth around £68million, becomes active.

Haaland's future is going to be a hot topic in 2022

Man City, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are currently frontrunners for the centre-forward but anyone could land him if they offer up the sum required and he accepts their terms.

The 21-year-old has 76 goals and 20 assists in just 75 appearances for the Germans as he continues his stunning ascent.

And when Darren Bent was asked where he thought the Norway international might end up, his Drivetime co-host interrupted him.

Wilshere joked: "If he's got any sense he'll be heading to north London, mate, the Gooners.

Wilshere would love Haaland at Arsenal but doesn't think he'd answer the call - literally

"If they got into the Champions League and bought Haaland - wow."

Wilshere was then pressed further on his joke by presenter Gordon Smart, who claimed getting rid of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could help fund a deal.

And the former Arsenal man thought the clubs supporters could help persuade Haaland.

He added: "The fans would go absolutely crazy for it. He would instantly be loved."

Asked if he'd put a call in to Haaland, he laughed: "Would I call him to see if he wants to come? He would probably say, 'who's this calling? Jack who?'"
