The Weld County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for information about a homicide victim discovered Sunday near Johnstown and a missing potential second victim who is believed to be alive.

The investigation dates back to 12:45 p.m. Sunday when deputies responded to a report of a suspicious death in the 23600 block of Blake Street just outside of Johnstown, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

At the scene, deputies found 40-year-old Gilbert Gutierrez dead from blunt force trauma. Further investigation revealed a second potential victim in the case, 26-year-old Oscar Eduardo Valles Avila.

Avila was reported as missing and might be in danger, according to authorities. He was last seen at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

There is an on-going investigation into Avila's connection to a 2015-2017 white Toyota Camry, the release said. If anyone has information about the case, including Gilbert, Avila or the vehicle, call Detective Ong at (970) 400-5816.
