A 20-year-old man arrested on charges of third degree assault after spitting in a Greeley police officer's eye around 10 a.m. on Sunday, has been released from jail on $3,500 bond.

On Sunday morning, Greeley police officers heard a disturbance in the 2200 block of 5th Avenue while on an unrelated call in the area.

After arriving at the scene, responding officers contacted the intoxicated and hostile 20-year-old Daniel Zaragoza, who was screaming and threatening people inside a home.

A warrant for Zaragoza's arrest was found when he was detained by officers, according to Greeley police.

The 20-year-old was taken to a local hospital for jail clearance. While in the emergency room, Zaragoza spit in an officer's eye.

After clearance, Zaragoza was booked into Weld County Jail just after 10 a.m. on a third degree assault on an office charge and the warrant out for his arrest.

He was released on $3,500 bond.
