It's been four years since the Nintendo Switch was originally announced in 2017, and it still doesn't have apps for major streaming services. At least, now Twitch has finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch.

With Twitch on Switch, you'll be able to:

  • Sign in to your Twitch account for easy access to all your followed channels.
  • Browse for live content by category.
  • Search to discover new streamers.
  • Watch VODs and clips from a streamer's profile.
  • Watch on the big screen with your Switch docked or take it on the go in handheld mode.

You can download it now for free on the Nintendo eShop.

It has a pretty clean UI, featuring a Home tab with recommended streams for you to watch, a Browse tab to look for streams by game or category, and a Search tab. However, the app is only for watching streams; you can't use it to stream your gameplay. Also, you can't see a stream's chat on your Nintendo Switch screen or a TV screen when docked, though you can scan a QR code to see the chat on your phone.

It's nice to get Twitch on the Switch, but here's hoping we'll get Netflix someday.
