The newest trailer is here and it shows the disastrous results of opening up the multiverse.

The official Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer has finally arrived, and less than a month away from its release. The film release was pushed back from 2021 due to COVID-19 and now an earlier UK release date for the 15th of December has been confirmed, much to the excitement of UK viewers. The anticipation for Spider-Man: No Way Home has reached new heights, especially after the post credit scene of a certain alien symbiote film.

What is rumoured to be Tom Holland's last Spider-Man Film, following the trilogy style individual stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and previous Sony Spider-Man films, might be the end of Spider-Man in the MCU. There is still uncertainty about the partnership between Sony and Marvel Cinematic Universe and this film will decide the fate of Spider-Man in the live-action universe. What will be the outcome? That we do not know, so for now let us focus on the trailer.

Immediately the first scene promises an action-packed multiverse adventure with villains like Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) returning from the previous Sam Raimi trilogy and Electro (Jamie Foxx) from the Amazing Spider-Man films.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man is joined by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) with a mysterious spell gone wrong. The consequences of this are then shown with fight scenes in different spiderman suits including the Iron Spider and the Black and Gold suit with a classic MCU break for comedic jokes about villainous names and a mention of Scooby Doo.

Towards the end of the trailer in what looks to be an epic battle, Sandman and Lizard make an appearance along with a dramatic fall that parallels the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Perhaps this is hinting at the presence of previous costumed heroes, but despite much speculation and the return of villains from these universes, Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield are nowhere to be found in this trailer.

Returning characters such as Aunt May (Marissa Tomei) along with MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) are seen throughout.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be coming to cinemas on December 15 in the UK and December 17 in the US.
