Harry Kane made history to become the top-scoring England international in a singular calendar year as the Three Lions raced to a 6-0 half-time lead against European minnows San Marino.

The Tottenham striker hit FOUR goals in just 45 minutes of action to surpass George Hilsdon's tally in 1908 and Dixie Dean's record in 1927 to become the highest scoring Three Lions player in a calendar year.

He's been in spectacular form over the international break

Kane's first of the night proved to be a history-making strike

The 28-year-old remarkably made it seven goals in two appearances and joined Gary Lineker in joint-third in the all-time scoring charts, but he is still behind Bobby Charlton (49) and Wayne Rooney (53) in the all-time list.

Harry Maguire gave the hosts the lead after just five minutes with his second in as many games before an own goal put the visitors in control.

Kane then struck from the spot following a mindless handball before poking home shortly after.

He then netted another penalty before superbly dancing round a San Marino defender for his fourth before the interval.

Kane has gone level with Lineker and also matched a feat set by Wright

And Dean Ashton, speaking on co-commentary duty for talkSPORT, couldn't hide his admiration for the forward.

"He just loves breaking records does Harry Kane. He's a ruthless striker," the former Premier League striker noted.

With his goals, Kane became the first player to score four in a first half since Ian Wright in 1993.
