According to Spanish publication SPORT, Ousmane Dembele will not be signing a new contract with Barcelona. With his deal expiring at the end of the season, the winger will leave the club as a free agent.
A number of big clubs have registered their interest in the player, and have offered him huge amounts of money for a transfer away. Dembele is reportedly not happy with the offer that Barcelona have given him, and he wants to continue his career at a club that will be able to meet his financial demands.
The situation is understandable since Barcelona currently have over a billion Euros worth of debt to clear. A number of their first team players have taken drastic pay cuts for the stability of the books. And as a result, we will be seeing Barcelona lose their €135 million signing for free in the summer.
Newcastle United are reportedly willing to offer him a wage worth €15 million per week. Along with Newcastle, other teams are also offering him a huge signing-on bonus, which will tempt the France international further to leave Barcelona in search of a better pay package.
Xavi has heaped a lot of praise on the player since being given the managerial role. Aside from being plagued by injuries, Dembele has the potential to be a top star, according to him. But, it seems that Ousmane Dembele has made up his mind to join Newcastle or one of the other parties interested in him instead.
