Jamie Carragher has questioned Rio Ferdinand's loyalty to Manchester United when the former Old Trafford defender waded into his debate with Roy Keane.

Things got heated between Keane and Carragher in the Sky Sports studio as neither would back down in a furious disagreement about United's signing of Cristiano Ronaldo following the side's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Ferdinand decided to join in on the fun, but probably wasn't expecting such a fiery response

In what could have been a minor quibble about whether Ronaldo's return was to win the Premier League or just cups, the pair flew off the handle, with Ferdinand joining in the fun only to be shut down by Carragher.

Ferdinand had been mocked by Carragher earlier in November, taking his now infamous 'Ole's at the wheel!' speech, and replacing it with Michael Carrick's name after the caretaker boss picked up a win against Atalanta.

Clearly irked by Carragher's dig, as well as his disagreements with Keane, Ferdinand hit out as his old England centre back partner on his YouTube channel.

"Carra shouldn't really be talking about winning leagues," Ferdinand said.

Carragher loves winding up his old friends at United, and Ferdinand was no different

"He's never done it, he don't know what it means, he don't know how to do it.

"He's never navigated a team through it to that point to win a league so I find it very difficult when he speaks with such conviction about winning leagues.

"You should stick to cup competitions, the moment he talks about leagues I just mute it."

Carragher failed to win the Premier League in a 17-year career with Liverpool, though won the Champions League among other trophies, while Ferdinand lifted the title an enviable six times during a 12-year stint at Man United.

Ferdinand won six Premier League titles with Man United, and was quick to shut down Carragher

Not to be beaten, though, Carragher was quick to bite back, highlighting Ferdinand's lack of trophies without Sir Alex Ferguson, as well as alleging that the United fan wanted to join rivals Chelsea.

"Not talking titles but the deal for Ronaldo to Man Utd which you arranged," Carragher said.

"No PL for me but Sky like my opinions! No Trophy in your career without [Ferguson] & when you stopped winning PL at MU you tried to move to Chelsea.

"So please stop giving it the big MU fan one!"

The Liverpool legend loves finding new and interesting ways to wind up former United greats

The dig was straight out of the Carragher playbook, having delivered a similar line to Peter Schmeichel earlier in the week.

The legendary shot stopper professed his love for United, but was instantly picked up on the fact he signed for rivals Man City by Carragher.

Schmeichel too opted to reference Liverpool's lack of title success, but Ferdinand, unlike the former keeper, opted to play things down, instead inviting Carragher onto his show.

"Calm down… It's all love," he said. "Just wanted a nibble. U coming on the show next Monday?!"

Carragher later accepted the invite showing there are no hard feelings between the two.

Whether or not Keane will be so forgiving to Carragher for daring to challenge his authority remains to be seen...
