Tyson Fury insists Deontay Wilder almost knocking him out cold was the 'best thing that could have happened' as it showed him how to beat 'The Bronze Bomber.'
Fury and Wilder will fight for a third time on October 9 in Las Vegas, live on talkSPORT, with the WBC and Ring Magazine heavyweight titles on the line.
Fury was dropped twice when he fought Wilder for the first time in 2018
They first met in 2018, less than 12 months after the 'Gypsy King' started his comeback to fitness after years of inactivity and abuse to his body.
Despite fighting two low grade opponents and spending most of his training camp losing weight, Fury managed to secure a controversial draw in the Staples Center, having outboxed Wilder for large parts of the fight but getting up form two knockdowns.
The first time he was dropped, midway through the ninth, it provoked an angry response for the Englishman as he went looking for the champion with stinging shots of his own.
And it was this success in the exchanges which provided the blue print on how to beat the slammer from Alabama.
But exchanging with the 'Bronze Bomber' provided the blueprint for success
He said on a pre-fight press call: "After the first Wilder fight in the last round when he knocked me down, I got back up and got into it, and he didn't like it.
"From that moment on, I knew how to beat Deontay Wilder.
"I knew I had to go forward on him and unload big punches.
"Looking back at it years later, it was the best thing that could have happened because I got to do it all again."
Fury floored Wilder twice and stopped him in round seven of their rematch
When they met for a second time in 2020, Fury came good on his promise to stop the previously undefeated fighter and forced a technical stoppage in the seventh round.
This time around, the 33-year-old has promised to weigh in even heavier than 273lbs (19st 5lbs) and produce an even more devastating performance.
