Five weeks into this latest NFL season and only one team remains unbeaten. Meanwhile, both the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for their first victories of 2021. When it comes to the league, there are lots of numbers to consider. Some of are the historical variety and some have to do with what we may see this season. In any case, here are some statistics that may or may not open some eyes as the National Football League rolls on.

Andy Reid was named head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013. In his first eight seasons with the club, the reigning AFC champions took care of the football. The team committed less than 20 turnovers in each of the campaigns. But it's been a different story as the Chiefs' defense continues to struggle. Patrick Mahomes and the offense appear to be pressing. Reid's team is currently tied with the Jaguars with a league-high 11 turnovers.

Longtime Bears' assistant Sean Desai was promoted to defensive coordinator earlier this year after Chuck Pagano announced his retirement. The team is off to a 3-2 start and host the Green Bay Packers this week. And it will be interesting to see if the Chicago pass rush can consistently get to Aaron Rodgers, who's been sacked 10 times this season. Meanwhile, led by Khalil Mack (5.0) and Robert Quinn (4.5), the Bears lead the NFL with 18 QB traps.

The Green and White are the lone team in the league that has not intercepted a pass after five weeks of play. There's a long way to go in this season but it's interesting to note that while current Jets' head coach Robert Saleh was the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, the team set a dubious NFL record by picking off just two passes all season. Zero is also the number of points the Jets have scored in the first quarter this season.

There are always classic overreactions to wins and losses when it comes to football and in this league in particular. The Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers all dropped their season openers. And now all four of these current division leaders are riding four-game winning streaks. In fact, the Bills (172) and Cowboys (170) are the two highest-scoring teams in the league. So much for the gloom and doom after Week 1.

It's already been an up-and-down year for Mike Vrabel's team. In Week 1 at home, the Tennessee Titans were routed by the Arizona Cardinals, 38-13. Three weeks later, they were surprised on the road by the New York Jets and fell in overtime, 27-24. But the team currently leads the AFC South with a 3-2 record. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans (1-4), Indianapolis Colts (1-4) and Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) have a combined for a dismal 2-13 record.
