Users in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand will be able to test out the new feature, which is being billed as a "test" by Spotify. The new feature is intended to provide "one integrated place" for DJs to share their mixes and connect with their audiences.
The DJ Mixes feature has been launched on Spotify, with individual mixes from artists such as Adam Beyer, Shingo Nakamura, MOTi, Noisia, and AmyElle being made available to celebrate the occasion. Spotify is keen to let users know that there is more to come as the feature is still in its early stages, telling them that they should "expect the experience to continue to evolve over time."
As part of the feature's launch, AmyElle expressed her excitement by writing on Instagram: "Really excited to announce that I have taken part in providing one of the first-ever DJ mixes for Spotify – I've prepared you a club-ready mix featuring some absolute gems of records." Please let me know your thoughts."
Spotify has populated the DJ Mixes microhub with existing albums and DJ mixes as well, so users need not be concerned that their listening experience will be limited to only the five DJs who have created mixes specifically for the launch.
Spotify's decision to launch their DJ Mixes feature comes on the heels of Apple Music's new music identification tool, which will identify and compensate all creators and artists who have produced music that is included in a DJ mix. Spotify's DJ Mixes feature is similar to Apple Music's new music identification tool.
M3F has announced their lineup for the year 2022, which features a slew of talented artists such as ZHU, Kaytranada, Jungle, Whethan, Elderbrook, and others.
