Jack Wilshere has named Cesc Fabregas as the most talented footballer he played with at Arsenal.

Wilshere started off at the Gunners, graduating from the club's academy, and went on to play for England 34 times alongside some true greats of the game, including Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney.

Wilshere spent three years with Fabregas at Arsenal

After ten years at the Emirates, he joined West Ham in 2018 but several injury setbacks hindered his progress at the London Stadium.

He is now a free agent again and back training with the Gunners as he searches for a new club and fresh chapter in his career after leaving Bournemouth earlier this year.

Joining talkSPORT on Thursday, Wilshere named Fabregas as the best he's played alongside and spoke of his leadership qualities that people may not know about.

Asked who the best player he played with at Arsenal, he told Drive: "Probably Cesc Fabregas.

Wilshere made a brilliant appearance on our airwaves

"He played in the Premier League - just after the 'Invincibles' side - at 16.

"You won't see that anymore. Even players like Foden, he only started at 18.

"I learnt a lot from him as he was my captain as well. People don't realise he was a great leader.

"He was a talker on the pitch, in the dressing room. He would motivate us and he was the dressing room he was the loudest.

"He would lead by his performances too. I played with him so many times where he would create around ten chances on his own and control the game by himself."

Rooney tops Wilshere's list for England players he's played with

Wilshere named Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney as the player at England he thought was the best he played with.

"For everything he's done in his career, Rooney." Wilshere said when asked who his best England teammate was.

"He was an animal. Strong, quick and aggressive.

"He had an amazing football brain too."
