Severance 34, University 13, in Severance: In a battle between two squads hoping to contend in the postseason, Severance continued to prove itself as a top-tier team in Class 2A. The Silver Knights stayed one step ahead of University all game, leading 14-0 after one quarter, 14-7 at halftime and 21-7 after three quarters. Severance improved to 5-0 overall, 1-0 in the Patriot League West. University fell to 3-2, 0-1. The Silver Knights entered the game ranked fourth in 2A by CHSAANow.com. The Bulldogs are eighth. Sophomore Gage Bachman carried the ball 13 times for 106 yards and a touchdown for Severance. Senior Trevin Hull had two touchdowns and 44 yards on three receptions. Silver Knights junior quarterback Nolan Hertzke completed 8 of 10 passes for 107 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. University senior quarterback Greg Garza completed 14 of 39 passes for 125 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Boys soccer

Frontier Academy 2, Bishop Machebeuf 0, in Denver: Frontier Academy bounced back nicely from a rare loss two days earlier. The Wolverines improved to 7-2 overall with the nonleague victory.

Fort Lupton 8, Englewood 1, in Fort Lupton: Fort Lupton recorded another dominant win to improve to 8-2 overall, 3-0 in 5A/4A/3A Colorado League play. The Bluedevils scored four goals in each half.

Thompson Valley 3, Roosevelt 2, in Johnstown: Roosevelt couldn't even the score in the second half, as both teams scored all of their goals before halftime. Senior Matt Loecke and sophomore Jacob Wehage each had a goal for the Rough Riders. Roosevelt junior goalkeeper Peyton Tiller had 11 saves. The Rough Riders fell to 5-6 overall, 2-3 in 4A/3A Longs Peak League play.

Riverdale Ridge 3, Severance 2, in Thornton: Severance scored two goals in the second half, but it ultimately wasn't enough, as the Silver Knights fell to 1-7 overall, 0-4 in 4A/3A Longs Peak League play.

Estes Park 3, Valley 2, in Estes Park: Valley fell just short against one of the top teams in the 3A Patriot League. The two teams were tied at 2 at halftime before Estes Park scored the winner in the second half. The Vikings dropped to 2-8 overall, 1-4 in league play.

Arvada 6, Weld Central 2, in Keenesburg: Despite a goal apiece from sophomores Diego De La Fuente and Andre Rodriguez, Weld Central was unable to earn its first win of the season. The Rebels fell to 0-9-1 overall, 0-2 in 5A/4A/3A Colorado League play. Weld Central senior goalkeeper Santiago Echeverria had 10 saves.

Eaton 3, University 1, in Eaton: For the second time this season, Eaton secured a tightly contested win against University. The Reds entered the game ranked second in 3A, behind Lutheran, according to CHSAANow.com. The Bulldogs are ranked third. Junior Blayke Duncan, senior Jaelyn Montoya and sophomore Julia Meagher each drove in a run for Eaton. Reds sophomore Sadie Ross pitched all seven innings, allowing just one earned run on eight hits, striking out seven and walking one. University freshman Addison Harding was also highly effective in the circle, allowing three earned runs on five hits, striking out five and walking two. Eaton improved to 16-3 overall, 10-2 in Patriot League play. The Bulldogs fell to 16-5, 12-2.

Roosevelt 13, Thompson Valley 0, 4 inn., in Loveland: Roosevelt coasted to a dominant 4A Longs Peak win, improving to 16-5 overall, 5-1 in 4A Longs Peak League play. Four Rough Riders players each had two hits. Senior Maerron Lovern had a game-high six RBI on 2-for-4 hitting, including her fourth home run of the season. The Roosevelt pitching duo of junior Bridget McNeil and senior Malaya Coleman combined to allow no runs on four hits, striking out six and walking none in four innings.

Severance 10, Mountain View 0, 5 inn., in Severance: Severance won its fourth consecutive game and improved to 14-6 overall, 6-1 in 4A Longs Peak play. The Silver Knights' star senior pitcher Natalia Puchino allowed just one hit, while striking out nine and walking none in five shutout innings. Offensively, freshman Aubrey Dare led Severance, hitting 3 for 3 with two RBI and three runs. Puchino also drove in two RBI on 1-for-3 hitting.

Greeley Central 25, Skyline 18, in Greeley: Greeley Central outlasted Skyline in an absolute slugfest to wrap up its regular season at 10-12 overall, 2-7 in 4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play. The Wildcats led 9-4 in the second inning but trailed 15-9 in the top of the fourth before scoring 16 runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sophomore Morgan Arias and junior Tathis Arredondo recorded four hits apiece for Central. Arias had five RBI, and Arredondo drove in four runs. Arias recorded her first home run of the season. The Wildcats out-hit Skyline 18-14.

Holy Family 11, Windsor 3, in Broomfield: Windsor fell to the third-ranked team in 4A, according to CHSAANow.com. Windsor is ranked sixth. The Wizards were playing catch-up all game, falling behind 2-0 in the first inning and 4-0 by the third. Windsor dropped to 17-5 overall, 7-1 in 4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play.

Niwot 20, Northridge 13, in Niwot: Northridge scored an ample number or runs but was unable to slow Niwot's offense. The Grizzlies fell to 10-11 overall, 2-4 in 4A Longs Peak play. Northridge sophomore Kennedy Strausheim had four RBI on 1-for-5 hitting, with her one hit being her second home run of the season. Senior Hallee Widler also had four RBI, on 2-for-4 hitting, including her first home run of the season.

Fort Lupton 19, Englewood 0, 3 inn., in Englewood: Fort Lupton scored eight runs in the first inning and just kept tacking on. The Bluedevils improved to 12-8 overall, 6-1 in 4A/3A Colorado 7 League play.

Weld Central 13, Arvada 3, 5 inn., in Keenesburg: Weld Central scored in every inning to improve to 9-12 overall, 5-2 in 4A/3A Colorado 7 play.

Strasburg 14, Valley 0, 3 inn., in Strasburg: Valley couldn't slow the sixth-ranked team in 3A. After scoring one run in the first inning, Strasburg put away the game with 13 runs in the bottom of the second. Junior Kendall Luark and senior Bailey Segura had the Vikings' only two hits. Valley fell to 8-11 overall, 5-8 in Patriot League play.

Boys tennis

Greeley Central 6, Mountain View 1, in Greeley: Greeley Central won every match except No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 singles, Wildcats senior Tate Sedinger won a tightly contested match, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). Central improved to 2-7 overall, 2-7 in 4A Region 4 duals.

Dawson School 5, University 2, in Greeley: University couldn't pick up a singles win, but it won two of four doubles matches. The Bulldogs fell to 5-4 overall, 4-3 in 4A Region 4 play.

Girls volleyball

Windsor 3, Greeley West 0, in Greeley: Windsor won by set scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-10. Freshman Kadence Marsh had eight kills and six blocks for the Wizards. Junior Avery Lacy added six kills and three aces. Sophomore Julia Bohlinger had 11 digs and five kills. Greeley West sophomore Davanee McKinney had three kills and two blocks. Windsor improved to 10-3 overall, 6-1 in 5A/4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play. West fell to 4-7, 2-4.

Resurrection Christian 3, Liberty Common 0, in Loveland: Resurrection Christian continued to display why it is the top-ranked team in 3A with a dominant win against a fellow Patriot League contender, 25-10, 25-13, 25-18. This was the first loss of the season for fourth-ranked Liberty Common (12-1 overall, 3-1 Patriot). The Cougars improved to 10-0, 5-0.

Briggsdale 3, Wiley 1, in Hugo: Despite dropping the first set, Briggsdale extended its win streak to five matches with a 20-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-11 win. The Falcons improved to 12-2 with the nonleague win.

Dayspring Christian 3, Nederland 0, in Nederland: Dayspring coasted to its sixth consecutive victory, improving to 13-2 overall, 5-1 in 3A/2A/1A Mile High League play. Eagles senior Karrin Chandler had six kills, two blocks, an ace and eight assists. Fellow senior Corrin Sides added eight aces and five kills.

Platte Valley 3, Eagle Ridge Academy 0, in Brighton: Platte Valley cruised to a 25-14, 25-11, 25-9 nonleague victory. Freshman Karsyn Fetzer had 12 kills and five aces. Fellow freshman Lauryn Uyemura added 26 assists and four aces. The Broncos improved to 8-7.

Highland 3, Gilpin County 1, in Black Hawk: Highland dropped the first set but took over from there, winning 19-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-19. Junior Madilyn Nelson led the Huskies with 18 kills and two aces. Senior Shelby Rusch had 13 kills and 14 digs. Junior Jenna Batka racked up 39 assists, four aces and 13 digs. Highland improved to 7-4 overall, 5-1 in 3A/2A/1A Mile High League play.

Niwot 3, Roosevelt 1, in Johnstown: Roosevelt's four-match win streak came to an end at the hands of the eighth-ranked team in 4A, according to CHSAANow.com. Niwot won 25-22, 24-26, 25-17, 25-16. The Rough Riders fell to 5-5 overall, 4-4 in 4A/3A Longs Peak League play.

Holy Family 3, Greeley Central 0, in Greeley: Greeley Central dropped its sixth consecutive match, falling to 2-10 overall, 0-6 in 5A/4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play.

Frederick 3, Severance 0, in Frederick: Severance couldn't pick up a set from the second-ranked team in 4A, according to CHSAANow.com. Frederick won 25-10, 25-16, 25-14. Senior Morgan Green had four kills for the Silver Knights. Sophomore Ava Zink had 11 assists. Severance fell to 5-8 overall, 3-5 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play.

Thomas Jefferson 3, Fort Lupton 0, in Denver: Fort Lupton fell in three sets, 25-14, 25-12, 25-12. Sophomore Alissa Clark and junior Nevaeh Gonzales had four kills apiece for the Bluedevils. Senior Rylea Sarazen had 12 digs and seven assists. Fort Lupton fell to 2-7 with the nonleague loss.
