Darren Bent believes it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Harry Kane completes a January move to Manchester City.

The England captain came off the bench to score a 20-minute treble for Tottenham Hotspur in the 5-1 Europa Conference League win over NS Mura.

Kane has yet to score in five Premier League outings going into this Sunday's visit of Aston Villa

Kane - on the back of an unsettling summer where he wanted to leave the club - has endured a difficult start to the domestic campaign, however, as he has yet to score in five Premier League outings going into this Sunday's visit of Aston Villa.

He has not gone six Premier League games without scoring since 2015 and fans will hope he can rediscover his form quickly.

City led the race for Kane's signature in the summer following the departure of Sergio Aguero, but were seemingly priced out of a move as Daniel Levy stuck to his principles.

Even though a deal could not be struck in the summer, Bent believes a deal could be revisited in 2022 if boss Nuno Espirito Santo receives assurances the funds will be reinvested.

The England captain scored a hat-trick in the Conference League

"It just depends on the situation with the two clubs," Bent said on Drive.

"It might be best for all concerned that he goes to Manchester City, and Spurs get whatever they want - £150million.

"It gives Nuno a chance to dip quickly into the transfer market. But that's only thing.

"Especially in a short window like January, when everyone knows you've got £150m to spend, all of a sudden the player's prices just go up."
