The Greeley Farmers' Market was recently named the most popular farmers market in the state in an online poll.
The vote was a part of the America's Farmers Market Celebration, an annual event from American Farmland Trust and the Farmers Market Coalition, according to a city news release. Greeley ranked first in the state in the nationwide popular vote, seventh in the southwest region and 65th in the nation.
Greeley special events coordinator Andrea Haring said in the release she "could not be more proud" of the recognition.
"We had so much fun with the voting," Haring said. "Our market family works extremely hard year-round to bring Greeley and the surrounding area fresh, delicious food that is grown and produced locally."
The Greeley Farmer's Market summer season continues through Oct. 30. The market is open 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the historic Union Pacific Depot, 902 7th Ave., in downtown Greeley. On Oct. 30, vendors will have free candy to celebrate Halloween.
The farmers market winter season starts Nov. 6, when it begins operating 9 a.m. to noon the first and third Saturdays of the month at Zoe's Café and Events, 715 10th St. Shoppers can expect products including hardy root crops, winter squash, greenhouse-grown produce, locally raised meat and much more.
The information booth at the market accepts card payments and provides vouchers to purchase items at the market. Debit and credit cards, as well as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefit Electronic Benefits Transfer cards, are accepted at the booth.
The market features vendors and posts updates on its social media pages on Facebook, @greeleyfarmersmarket, and Instagram, greeleyfarmersmarket. For more information, go to greeleygov.com/fm.
