Weld squads compete in Runners Roost, in Brighton: Fort Lupton, Northridge, Valley, Weld Central and Windsor Charter competed in the huge, talent-laden Runners Roost Invitational, hosted by Platte Canyon at the Adams County Regional Park XC Course in Brighton. Northridge (264 points) placed 10th out of 17 teams in the boys standings. Windsor Charter (325) was 12th, and Valley (360) placed 13th. Junior Justin McDaniel led Northridge's boys, placing 44th (21:48.90). Windsor Charter's boys were led by sophomore Jackson Dumm, who placed 50th (22:03.10). Weld Central sophomore Isiah Deane finished 59th (22:35.60). Junior Sawyer Peterson led a pack of Valley runners, placing 102nd (24:37.50). Fort Lupton freshman Blake Hayen placed 135th (25.35.30) in the boys race. No local teams placed in the girls team standings. However, Windsor Charter sophomore Gia Sharma finished 24th (25:15.60), individually. Northridge junior Carsyn Petersen placed 37th (26:04.90). Weld Central junior Brianna Holley finished 51st (27:00.40). Fort Lupton senior Kimberley Campbell was 59th (27:15.70). Valley junior Tazia Fritz was 138th (33:50.20).
Boys soccer
Roosevelt 3, Severance 2, in Severance: Roosevelt finished with the slight edge in this Class 4A/3A Longs Peak League match. The Rough Riders improved to 5-5 overall, 2-2 in league. Severance fell to 1-6, 0-3. Roosevelt sophomore Sean Siefken scored two of his team's three goals.
Fort Lupton 4, Eagle Ridge Academy 1, in Fort Lupton: Fort Lupton won its third match in a row to improve to 7-2 overall, 2-0 in 5A/4A/3A Colorado League play. The Bluedevils started fast, jumping out to a 3-1 lead by halftime.
Valley 5, Sterling 1, in Sterling: Valley snapped a three-match losing streak in emphatic fashion. The Vikings improved to 2-7 overall, 1-3 in 3A Patriot League play.

Northridge 0, Fort Morgan 0, 2OT, in Greeley: Neither team budged defensively, as Northridge moved its record to 4-2-3 overall, 1-1-1 in 4A/3A Longs Peak League play.
Liberty Common 4, Frontier Academy 1, in Fort Collins: Frontier Academy fell for just the second time this season, struggling to slow a strong Liberty Common squad. The Eagles scored two goals in each half. The Wolverines received their one goal in the second half from sophomore Braydan Aguilar. Frontier fell to 6-2 overall, 3-1 in 3A Patriot League play.
Denver Christian 5, Union Colony Prep 0, in Denver: Denver Christian scored two goals in the first half and three more in the second half, causing Union Colony to fall to 1-7 overall, 0-3 in 2A Mile High West play. Despite the loss, Timberwolves junior goalkeeper Richard Mata had 22 saves.
Englewood 5, Weld Central 2, in Englewood: Weld Central continues to search for its first win, falling to 0-8-1 overall, 0-1 in 5A/4A/3A Colorado League play.Senior Pedro Rosales and sophomore Diego De La Fuente each scored a goal for the Rebels. Senior goalkeeper Santiago Echeverria had 18 saves for Weld Central.

Severance 3, Northridge 1, in Severance: Severance's senior star pitcher Natalia Puchino continued her season-long tear, allowing no earned runs on four hits, striking out 10 and walking three. Puchino and freshman Aubrey Dare led the Silver Knights offensively, each recording two hits. Senior Chloe Garcia led Northridge, hitting 1 for 3 with a RBI. Grizzlies junior pitcher Sydney Fosdick was also rock solid in the circle, allowing one earned run on eight hits, striking out three and walking one. Severance improved to 13-6 overall, 5-1 in 4A Longs Peak League play. Northridge dropped to 10-10, 2-3.
Eaton 15, Platte Valley 2, 5 inn., in Kersey: Eaton scored multiple runs in every inning. Sophomore Stephanie Bingley and senior Emma Pinkstaff each had three hits for the Reds. Bingley drove in a game-high four RBI. Pinkstaff had a double and a home run. Reds sophomore pitcher Julia Meagher faced just 21 batters, allowing two earned runs on five hits, striking out five and walking none. Eaton improved to 15-3 overall, 9-2 in 3A Patriot League play. Platte Valley fell to 1-17-1, 0-13.
University 6, Sterling 5, in Greeley: In a marquee matchup of two of the top 10 teams in 3A, University erased a 5-1 deficit in the fifth inning by scoring the final five runs. The Bulldogs drove in three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win in walk-off fashion. University freshman Addison Harding hit 3 for 4 with a RBI. Junior Kendree Kern had a game-high three RBI on 2-for-4 hitting, including a double. Junior Kaden Wyatt had her first home run of the season, driving in a pair of runs on 1-for-3 hitting. University entered the game ranked third in 3A by CHSAANow.com. Sterling is ranked fourth. The Bulldogs improved to 16-4 overall, 12-1 in Patriot League play.
Greeley West 17, Skyline 3, 4 inn., in Longmont: Greeley West produced its highest scoring output of the season to win its third consecutive game. The Spartans scored 10 runs in the second inning alone to position themselves for the mercy rule win. Senior Brookelynn Hernandez led the way, hitting 2 for 3 with, a double, a triple, six RBI and three runs. Sophomore Nathali Mendoza hit 3 for 3 with a double, two RBI and three runs. In the pitchers circle, West freshman Ellyse Hydock allowed just two earned runs on three hits, striking out eight and walking one. The Spartans improved to 10-11 overall, 3-5 in 4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play.

Longmont 18, Greeley Central 8, 6 inn., in Longmont: Greeley Central scored enough runs but just couldn't slow Longmont's attack. The Trojans scored the first seven runs of the game and nine of the last 10. Despite the loss, Wildcats sophomore Morgan Arias had an excellent day at the plate, hitting 3 for 3 with two runs. Senior Natalia Lopez-Gutierrez had two RBI and a run despite not recording a hit. Central fell to 9-12 overall, 1-7 in 4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play.
Boulder 2, Fort Lupton 0, in Fort Lupton: Fort Lupton dropped a pitcher's duel to fall to 11-8 overall, 5-1 in 4A/3A Colorado 7 play. Boulder scored one run in the top of the third and another in the seventh.
Lyons 7, Resurrection Christian 0, in Loveland: Resurrection Christian was unable to get any offense going as it fell to 1-12 overall, 1-9 in 3A Patriot League play.
Boys tennis
University 6, Mountain View 1, in Greeley: University won in straight sets at every position except No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Bulldogs sophomore Kevin Vaardahl defeated sophomore Paxton Walker 6-2, 6-2. University improved to 5-3 overall, 4-2 in 4A Region 4 play.
Girls volleyball
Windsor 3, Greeley Central 0, in Windsor: Windsor dominated this home conference match to improve to 9-3 overall, 5-1 in 5A/4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play. Senior Shae Hardy had eight kills and nine assists for the Wizards. Freshman Kadence Marsh had four kills, five aces, seven digs and six assists. Junior Avery Lacy added six kills, two aces and eight digs. Senior Tomea Cruz had four digs and an ace for Greeley Central. Windsor improved to 9-3 overall, 5-1 in 5A/4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play. The Wildcats fell to 2-9, 0-5.

University 3, Eaton 1, in Eaton: University topped Eaton 22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23 to snap a 15-match, nine-year losing streak against the Reds. Senior Aesha Alrashed led the way for the Bulldogs with 15 kills, four blocks and three aces. Senior Daryn Whitmoyer had eight aces and 24 assists for University. Senior Chloe Ruhl added 11 kills and 16 digs. Junior Rylee Martin led Eaton with 10 kills, 15 assists, three aces and 19 digs. Senior Megan St. Jean had 19 assists, four aces and 10 digs. The Bulldogs came into the match ranked third in 3A by CHSAANow.com. Eaton — the defending 3A champion — is ranked sixth. University improved to 12-2 overall, 4-1 in 3A Patriot League play. The Reds dropped to 7-5, 2-2.
Roosevelt 3, Mountain View 0, in Loveland: Roosevelt won its fourth consecutive match, 25-19, 25-12, 25-21. Senior Ayanna Hollier had seven kills for the Rough Riders. Junior Avery Schneider chipped in four aces and 14 digs. Roosevelt improved to 5-4 overall, 4-3 in 4A/3A Longs Peak League play.
Platte Valley 3, Sterling 1, in Kersey: Platte Valley picked up a big 3A Patriot League home win against the seventh-ranked team in 3A, according to CHSAANow.com. Freshman Karsyn Fetzer had 25 kills, two aces and two blocks for the Broncos. Junior Andi Schissler added nine kills, three blocks, two aces and 10 digs. Freshman Lauryn Uyemura dished up 38 assists for Platte Valley. The Broncos are ranked 10th in 3A. Platte Valley improved to 7-7 overall, 2-2 in Patriot League play.
Severance 3, Fort Morgan 0, in Severance: Severance won, comfortably, to improve to 5-7 overall, 3-4 in 4A/3A Longs Peak League play.
Silver Creek 3, Greeley West 0, in Longmont: Greeley West lost by set scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-12. Spartans sophomore Davanee McKinney had four kills for the Spartans. Freshman Kylie Wolfe had 11 assists, seven digs and three aces. West fell to 4-6 overall, 2-3 in 5A/4A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play.
Thompson Valley 3, Northridge 0, in Greeley: Northridge struggled against one of the top teams in 4A, sixth-ranked Thompson Valley. The Grizzlies fell 25-15, 25-7, 25-12. Northridge dropped to 5-8 overall, 1-7 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play.
Lyons 3, Highland 1, in Ault: Highland lost by supremely tight scores of 20-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-22. Senior Shelby Rusch led the Huskies with 18 kills, eight digs and three aces. Junior Jenna Batka had 31 assists and 11 kills. Highland fell to 6-4 overall, 4-1 in 3A/2A/1A Mile High League play.
Strasburg 3, Frontier Academy 0, in Strasburg: Strasburg won by set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 26-24. The Wolverines fell to 1-7 overall, 0-3 in 3A Patriot Leauge play.

Windsor 2, Holy Family 0, in Broomfield: Windsor, the defending 4A champion, picked up a big win against the one of the top teams in the 5A/4A Northern Conference. The Wizards scored both of their goals in the second half. They improved to 2-1-3 in Northern Conference play, 4-4-3 overall.
Windsor Charter 5, STEM School Highlands Ranch 1, in Highlands Ranch: Windsor Charter's offense continues to hum, as the Firebirds improved to 4-3 overall, 3-1 in league play.
Centaurus 4, Greeley Central 3, OT, in Greeley: Greeley Central lost a heartbreaker after leading 1-0 at halftime. Centaurus outscored the Wildcats 3-2 in the second half and 1-0 in the overtime period. The Wildcats fell to 5-5 overall, 2-3 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play. Central fell to 5-5 overall, 2-3 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play.
Loveland 1, Greeley West 0, in Greeley: Greeley West just couldn't quite produce that one timely goal as it fell to 4-5-2 overall, 3-2-1 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play. Loveland's one goal came in the second half.
Girls volleyball
Valley 3, Fleming 2, in Gilcrest: Valley, a 3A squad, picked up a big win against the second-ranked team in 1A, according to CHSAANow.com. The Vikings won 25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-9. Senior Hallee Sherman led the way for Valley, recording 15 kills, 21 digs, two blocks and four aces. Junior Taeya Jimenez added 48 assists and 26 digs. The Vikings improved to 10-3 with the nonleague win.
Dayspring Christian 3, Longmont Christian 0, in Greeley: Dayspring Christian kept rolling, winning its fifth consecutive match and securing its 10th sweep of the season. The Eagles improved to 12-2 overall, 4-1 in 3A/2A/1A Mile High League play. Senior Karrin Chandler had 13 assists and nine digs for Dayspring. Fellow senior Tabor Flanagan added five kills, five aces, two blocks and 11 digs.
Windsor Charter Academy 3, Two Road Charter School 0, in Windsor: Windsor Charter secured this league match 25-13, 25-13, 25-19. The Firebirds improved to 11-2 overall, 4-0 in 2A/3A Foothills League play.
