Cristiano Ronaldo looked all set to claim the all-time international goal record but had a penalty saved in Portugal's World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland.
And rather ironically, the Manchester United star was denied by 19-year-old Gavin Bazunu, who plies his trade at Manchester City.

This wasn't in the script!
Portugal were awarded the spot-kick as Jeff Hendrick was adjudged to have tripped Bruno Fernandes inside the box.
After a lengthy VAR check, the penalty was confirmed and Ronaldo was just one kick away from scoring a record 110 goals for his country.
He struck powerfully to Bazunu's right but the teenager, who's currently on loan at League One Portsmouth, was equal to it.
And perhaps even more incredibly, Ireland are 1-0 up at half time thanks to John Egan's header from a corner.

Ronaldo confidently stepped up
