Weld County's cumulative COVID-19 case count grew by 1,008 new cases in the past week, for a total of 39,002 since the pandemic began.

The county's one-week average positive test rate is 9.52%, down from 10.28% a week ago. In the Greeley area, that rate is 8.04%. North Weld continues to have the highest rate, 11.74%.

There are 198 COVID-19 patients at Weld regional hospitals, down from 210 a week ago. Forty-four of those patients are in county hospitals. There are 173 hospital beds and 22 ICU beds available in the region, with six of those hospital beds and one ICU bed located within the county. A week ago, there were 262 hospital beds and 18 ICU beds in the region.

About 13.5% of patients in Weld regional hospitals are COVID-19 patients. Within the county, that rate is 18.4%.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported 11 active outbreaks this week in Weld County:

  1. Jefferson High School: Six student cases and three staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 2.
  2. Grandview Elementary School: Seven student cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 2.
  3. Ashley Manor – Evans 1: Five resident cases and six staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 31.
  4. Life Care Center of Greeley: Two resident cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 31.
  5. Healthcare Workforce Logistics - Greeley: Five staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 27.
  6. Brookdale Greeley: 15 resident cases and one staff case. One resident death. Outbreak reported Aug. 17.
  7. JBS Corporate: 19 staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 5. No new cases since the week of Aug. 25.
  8. The Bridge at Greeley: Two staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 13. No new cases since the week of Aug. 25.
  9. The Center at CenterPlace: Two staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 23. No new cases since the week of Aug. 25.
  10. Windsor Healthcare Center: Two staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 23. No new cases since the week of Aug. 25.
  11. Greeley Place Independent Living: Nine resident cases and one staff case. Outbreak reported Aug. 17. No new cases since the week of Aug. 18.

Greeley-Evans School District 6 reported 63 students and no adults in quarantine as of Friday.

County data show 359 Weld resident deaths due to COVID-19, an increase of four deaths in the past week. The state reported seven new deaths among people who died with COVID-19 in Weld, for a total of 371. The state also reported two new deaths due to COVID-19 in Weld, bringing that total to 315.

The state reports Weld County has identified 1,023 cases of the alpha variant, 418 cases of the delta variant and 18 cases of the gamma variant.

The state positivity rate is 5.9%, a slight increase from 5.79% a week ago, according to state data. The national positivity rate is at 10.1%, a slight decrease from 10.6% a week ago, according to John Hopkins University data.

Weld County reported Sept. 3 that 16,216 residents have had their first doses of two-part COVID-19 vaccines, and 149,827 residents, 55.7% of the 12-and-up population, are fully vaccinated. The state reports 3,693,986 Coloradans have been immunized with one dose, and 3,372,511 residents, 68.46% of the 12-and-up population, are fully immunized.
