Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo gave a cryptic response when asked if Harry Kane would be available to face Manchester City this Sunday.

Kane ended his exile from Spurs on Saturday and is now isolating at the club's training ground following his later than anticipated return from holiday.

Kane's future is yet to be resolved

It came after he did not show up, as expected, for planned pre-season checks, instead opting to stay in the Bahamas and then proceed to Florida.

Pep Guardiola's men had a £100million bid rejected for the England captain earlier this summer, but Nuno has not rule out him featuring against his potential next club this weekend.

Asked about Kane's availability for the match, Nuno told Sky Sports News: "All the players in the squad that work on a daily basis will be options for us, then it's up to us to decide."

The Portuguese boss didn't criticise Kane over the timing of his return to training, but has placed emphasis on trying to resolve his future with the season about to begin.

Nuno could give Kane a run out against City despite his limited pre-season

"First of all we have to speak," he added. "This is going to happen today, and after that we hope to solve all the situations.

"It's not about that (Kane's late return), it's about what we have to do to solve the situation - this is important.

"We have to solve it together, everybody involved has to solve it together - speaking, having a nice conversation and putting our opinions, but everybody together."

Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood joined talkSPORT on Monday and called on his former club to resolve Kane's future as soon as possible.

"When the England captain is involved I think it doesn't matter if it's Harry Kane," Sherwood told the Breakfast show.

"If it's the England captain it always going to be big news. I think they [Tottenham] should have nipped it in the bud.

"We [Les Ferdinand and I] know the boy better than anyone as a footballer and a person and he's not going to down tools.

"It's not in his make-up. He would never do it. He loves the football club and appreciates what the football club has given him and he'll just hope he gets the same respect in return.

"He obviously made it clear he wants to leave the club and now it's up to the powers that be to give him his way or decide he needs to stay for another year."
